Urban Active Racquetball Program

Racquetball – Playing racquetball is a great way to stay in shape. It offers an excellent all around workout, for both your body and your mind, while burning over 600 calories per hour. It improves strength, muscle tone, flexibility, eye-hand coordination, reflexes, and your ability to make quick decisions. It is fairly easy to learn and relatively inexpensive to get started.

The Urban Active Racquetball Program is designed to meet the needs both members who are experienced players and those who may be new to the sport.  Our goal is to provide the resources and instruction that you need, whether you want to become highly competitive or simply use racquetball as a fun way to stay in shape.

Player List/Challenge Ladder - The Urban Active Racquetball Challenge Ladder is a key part of this program.  It is basically lists of players, one for each of the major metropolitan areas that we serve.  It contains contact information for each player and is arranged in order by ability level.  When you play someone higher on the list than you, and win, then your name is moved to just above theirs on the list.  You arrange your matches to fit your schedule and email in the results.  The updated lists are emailed to everyone weekly.  It is designed to be a way for players to contact each other to play racquetball.  It is not designed to be used as a tournament, however, some of the players get pretty competitive about moving up the ladder.  If you would like to be included, just email your contact information (name, phone, email address, and the club you use the most) to racquetball@urbanactive.com.

Lessons - For members who are new to racquetball or may need a refresher course we offer free introductory lessons.  For members who want to improve their game we offer several advanced lesson options including private and semi-private lessons, a three lesson series, clinics, etc.  Unfortunately, at this time we do not have certified instructors for all of our clubs. (We are currently looking for advanced level players who might be interested in becoming a certified instructor). Email racquetball@urbanactive.com for additional information about lessons or the instructor program.

Tournaments - We also attend a number of racquetball tournaments in various areas of the country as the Urban Active Racquetball Team. This is especially good for those players who have never played in a tournament before. It is always good to have teammates to help you out and cheer you on.

Equipment - For new players we provide racquets and balls for your use. Check with the front desk at your club to sign these out.

Court Sign-Up – You may reserve the racquetball court at your club either in person or by calling the club up to 24 hours in advance of the desired reservation time. Reservations are made in ½ hour blocks and you may reserve up to two ½ hour blocks in a day.
